Those are magpies right? They really seem like they could morph into witches at any moment. :) Cool horses?! Where on earth were you? Love the shot with the cleaver - looks tres dangereux. Cool backdrop.
These shots are from the Tower - former prison, armoury, residence, etc. The birds are ravens. According to legend, if the ravens disappear, the Tower will fall, and with it the monarchy, etc. Apparently, Charles II's astronomer-royal complained about the ruddy birds getting in his way when he was using the Tower as an observatory. Charles ordered the birds out, but when he was told of the legend, he had a new observatory built across the river for the astronomer; the birds stayed put. They're now fed biscuits soaked in blood...and the occasional rabbit.
